Howdy! My name is Matt Ryan, and I’ve been serving as the pastoral intern at St. John’s since
August 2024. I am currently a Master of Divinity student at Wartburg Seminary, where I will
graduate in 2027.
I’ve had a few stops before here, but my story started in Marion, Indiana, the city of my birth. It
is also here where I would meet a Minnesota girl who came to town to visit some relatives. We
fell in love and got married, which is how I ended up moving north. But hey, I love it here, and I
love St. John’s. I also love our two sons who have grown up to be nice young men.
Me, I’m still growing up.
Know what else I love? The Indiana Pacers, Indiana Hoosiers, and the Indianapolis Colts. I’m
currently convincing the St. John’s congregation to also fall in love with these Indiana teams.
We’re getting there. If you come join us some Sunday, chances are, you too, will fall in love with
these Indiana teams. The evidence of their greatness is quite convincing!
And this, dear reader, is the autobiography of Matt Ryan. I hope I get to meet you in person if I
haven’t already.
